Breathing Life into the Rompslomp Monster
The Rompslomp monster embodies the chaos of paperwork—a relatable challenge for every retailer. InRetail approached us with this creative concept, and we were excited to execute it. Our journey began with generating a character sheet of the Rompslomp monster using GenAI, a powerful tool that helped us explore various designs and characteristics.
We started with the basic concept and then utilized GenAI to produce different iterations of the monster. This involved generating multiple character sheets, each showcasing unique features, expressions, and poses. The AI-assisted process allowed us to quickly iterate and experiment with ideas, ensuring we captured the monster’s essence while keeping it fun and relatable.
Crafting the Rompslomp
Once we had a solid character sheet from GenAI, our talented design team took over to bring the Rompslomp monster to life. The design process involved several key techniques:
- Editing and Layering: We imported the AI-generated images into Photoshop, where we began the editing process. Layering was crucial in this stage, as we meticulously organized different elements of the monster, such as its body, the papers it is made of, and facial features.
- Polishing and Refining: After setting up the layers, we polished the Rompslomp monster by refining its details. This included adjusting the colors for a vibrant look, enhancing the textures to give it a more tactile feel, and ensuring the character’s expressions conveyed the right emotions. We paid special attention to shadows and highlights to add depth and make the character more visually appealing.
- Bringing It All Together: With the polished monster in place, we then integrated it into various creative scenes. This involved not just placing the monster in the environments but also ensuring it interacted with the surrounding elements in a natural way.
A Fun Twist on Retail Challenges
The Rompslomp monster doesn’t just look great—it also tells a story. We placed it in three creative advertising scenes that highlight different aspects of the paperwork struggle:
