The question
If you advise organisations to keep AI in Europe, you have to do it yourself. The assistant in the bottom right of this site is our answer: an AI assistant that answers questions about AI Heroes, built by the current team, on infrastructure under European law.
What is in it
- European hosting: the functions run in Frankfurt, the database sits with a European region
- Public sources only: the assistant answers from a search index over the public pages of this site, and says so when it does not know
- Transparency under the AI Act: every visitor sees in the conversation itself that it is an AI assistant, with a page explaining how it works
- Retention policy: conversations are deleted automatically after a fixed period
- A human within reach: anyone who wants a person gets the conversation forwarded to the team, with a reply by email
How we built it
The way we do it for clients. First the question: what must the assistant be able to do, and above all what not. Then a prototype, tested with real visitor questions. Then compliance in the design: where the data lives, who can reach it, how long we keep it, how a visitor knows they are talking to AI. Only then live, with a spending cap, a rate limiter and logging of what goes wrong.
No made-up answers
The assistant cites pages on this site and quotes no prices that are not on it. If it does not know, it says so and offers a human.
Model choice in our own hands
The model behind the assistant is interchangeable. Switching vendor is a configuration change, not a rebuild.
Tested before go-live
A fixed set of test conversations has to pass before a new version may go live. That is how the assistant keeps doing what it should.
Publicly documented
How the assistant works, what it keeps and for how long, is on its own page on this site.
The result
An assistant that answers questions every day, stays in Europe and complies with the AI Act. Try it in the bottom right, or read how the assistant works.
Why this is a case
Because it is the one piece of proof we can show without a client’s permission, and because it shows what “run it on your own terms” means in practice: the same questions we ask at a client, we answered here for ourselves.
